Well, it was a whirlwind week and, after a month, things have finally settled down enough to write the blog post!
Sarah and Kevin are officially married and they pulled off an amazing wedding! Unfortunately, I was so busy watching kiddos, helping where I could, and watching everything that I forgot to take many pictures. The good news is that I was really able to live in the moment and enjoy the festivities. And luckily our friends and family did manage to get some good shots!!
On Sunday, May 10th, I picked up Kevin's daughter, Kaila, from the airport and then she, along with Wrigley, the kids, and myself, headed to Salisbury.
On Monday, we all helped out where we could. On Tuesday, I had court in Annapolis and then Chad took me out to dinner for my birthday...so I didn't do much for the wedding that day. On Wednesday, we began setting up tables/chairs/lights/decorations/etc.
On Thursday, the bridal party got our nails done and continued setting up. We ended the evening with a quick rehearsal and a delicious rehearsal dinner at Goin Nuts Cafe. Everyone had a great time and we had a cute platter for the guests to mark with their fingerprints. Hopefully this will be a sweet keepsake for the newlyweds!
The next day, May 15, 2015, was Wedding Day!!! We spent the morning putting the final touches on the decorations. Grammy and Great Aunt Marty worked like crazy to get the flower arrangements put together, tie bows on the backs of each chair, and make sure those added decorative touches were perfect. Grumpa and Kaila worked like crazy to make sure the lights were all working and the wires were all placed out of the way. Grandpa continued to practice his song and worked with the video camera crew to make sure they were ready for the big shots. The guys all worked together to get dressed and tie those pesky bow ties (but they did look awesome)!! The bridal party got our hair done (Lauren had her first up-do and it was adorable) and then we headed to Mee-Maw and Grandpa's house for pictures!
Before we knew it, 4 pm had arrived and it was time for Sarah to walk down the aisle!! It was a beautiful ceremony. Sarah's gown was gorgeous and she carried a bouquet made of brooches given to her by all of the special women in her life!! Their vows were sweet and unique, the kids were well behaved, Grandpa's song was great, and Lauren made sure the fish, in the koi pond, were able to join in the festivities by throwing most of her rose petals in the water.
After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a cocktail hour while the wedding party took pictures and then we ended the evening with dinner, speeches, cake, music and the photo booth!! As our wedding gift, Chad & I, Mee-maw & Grandpa, Uncle Ryan, and Grammy & Grumpa joined together and got Sarah and Kevin a photo booth for the reception. To say it was a hit is an understatement! Everyone had a fun time dressing up in crazy hats, and all of the guests had a neat keepsake to take home!
The following morning, May 16th, we enjoyed a relaxing brunch at Mee-Maw and Grandpa's house. Out of town guests and the bridal party were invited to attend and it was nice to sit down and reflect on the previous week.
Kevin sabered off a champagne bottle (his first time) to celebrate the special occasion!
And Rich Scanlon, an out of town guest, sabered off the second bottle (also his first time).
It truly was a whirlwind week of activity, but I think everyone would agree that it was a perfect wedding for Aunt Sarah and Uncle Kevin!! Next up, their honeymoon in Ireland, Scotland, and England. And the Fisher gang is off to San Francisco for a week. The craziness keeps on going...and we wouldn't have it any other way!!
Happy Wedding Sarah and Kevin! Here is looking forward to celebrating many years of wedded bliss with you guys!!!
