Fall Fun 2013

On October 3rd, the Bear and I headed to Salisbury for a long weekend.  She had just discovered The Little Mermaid and I knew we would be listening to that movie, in the car, for 2.5 hours.  So I decided to try out our wireless headphones.  She took right to them and I was able to listen to my music.  It was a very happy day in the Fisher car!!

That Saturday, the Terps were getting blown out by Florida State, so we decided to take the Bear to a pumpkin patch.  There were a lot of fun things for little kids and she had a great time.  She played in the bouncy house for the first time, she rode in a little car (being pulled by a tractor), she navigated a straw maze with Grandpa and we even managed to pose for a few photos.  The trip ended with some ice cream and she helped Mee-maw pick out some pumpkins for the front porch.

After church, on Sunday, we headed over to Aunt B and Kevin's house to watch football.  L took a nice nap and then it was time to go outside.  She loved feeding the fish, in their fish pond, and enjoyed playing with the sidewalk chalk.  Aunt B and Kevin even did a Bear chalk outline...it included L'ie's outline and Clark Bear's outline.

After that, the Bear went to stay with Grump and Grammy for a few days and they brought her back to Fairfax in time for the Maryland v. Virginia football game.  We tailgated in Lot 1 (it was nice to be back), and had a wonderful time.  There was plenty of good food, great friends, and entertainment.  The Bear enjoyed watching the marching band walk by, and she spent some time hanging out with E Shafer, Matthew Shafer and Jack Blough.

Chad was very excited to take the Bear on a little field trip.  It did not take much convincing, and the two were off to visit Cole Field House.  It was clear that they both had a great time in that historic building.

Once they got back to the tailgate, it was time to start heading into the stadium for the football game.  Mee-maw, Grandpa, Aunt B and I took the Bear.  We scalped some tickets and found our seats.  I was a little worried, since the seats were located smack dab in the middle of the row, but the Bear sat patiently and even watched the game.  She lasted an entire half and then I took her back to the tailgate.  We stopped for a quick shot on the Testudo statue (I have to get one of those every year) and then we hung out with the people who did not go into the game.

It was a long day at the tailgate, and by the end, the Bear was more than happy to sit in her car seat and watch The Little Mermaid (with her headphones, of course).  Previously, she got pretty wet, running around the soccer fields, but the Shafers were nice enough to hand down an adorable Testudo costume, and it was the perfect outfit for the end of the day.

The next day, Grumpa, Grammy, Chad, the Bear and I headed out to a pumpkin patch, Hollin Farms, in Western Virginia.  We were there last year, and it was gorgeous.  This year, we were not so lucky.  It was cold, rainy, and muddy.  But that did not stop us from having fun and picking out some awesome pumpkins.  We finished the afternoon with a stop at our favorite winery and headed home to dry out.

On Monday, Grumpa, Grammy and I took the Bear to the park for some fun.  She spent most of her time on the swings, but did enjoy a few moments on the slide.

That evening, we met up with Uncle Ryan and headed to Matchbox for some dinner.  Even though it was cold, the Bear had a good time running through the fountains, in front of the restaurants.

The past few weeks have been very busy, but a LOT of fun.  The Bear is completely off her regular schedule and I believe it will be a while before we get her back on track.  But, it was totally worth it!!  We are so lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful friends and family and I am glad the Bear has all these wonderful memories to look back on!!
