Lauren's First Hockey Goal!!!

After a brief try at soccer, Lauren happily stepped out onto the ice in her hockey gear and took on the task of learning how to skate with a stick in her hands.  Chad went through all of the requirements (and there were quite a few) to become on of the coaches.  He wanted to be out on the ice to encourage her, if needed.

Lauren took to the sport quickly.  Her skating improved, she learned how to handle the stick well, and her favorite part was the scrimmage at the end of practice.  While she participated and had a lot of fun, there was still a hesitation to get aggressive.

So one afternoon, I told Lauren that we would go out to eat after practice, and if she scored a goal, she could pick the place.  Bam!!  That very practice, she scored two goals.  And now that she knows how much fun it is to score, she has been going after that puck ever since.  =)

The night Lauren scored her first goal, Chad quickly scooped up the puck, and kept it as a souvenir!!  To say that she was excited is an understatement!!  ha ha ha
