Boy or Girl?!?!

For the past few months, Chad, Lauren and I have often thought and talked about BFII.   (Side note: I did not want to start using the nickname Baby Fish 2.0, since we do not think this baby is an improvement on our L'ie Bear.  So BFII came from the nickname of Robert Griffin III, who is commonly known as RGIII)  But we still have no idea whether the baby is a boy or a girl.  To say I have thought about it often is an understatement.  I have obsessed over and imagined having both a boy and a girl on a daily basis.  Either one will be amazing.

So, now I am writing this post with great excitement.  Tomorrow, November 20th, I will go in for an ultrasound and if the baby cooperates, we will be able to find out the gender.

With Lauren, I swore I was having a boy.  I based that feeling on gut instinct alone, because all but one of the old wives tales predicted a girl.  Grandpa also predicted a girl, but he was the only one.  Everyone else really thought Lauren would be a boy as well.  Some of the old wives tales I checked were

Chinese Gender Calendar:  Girl
Baby's Heartbeat: (over 140 bpm) Girl
Drug Store Urine Test:  Girl
Baking Soda Test:  Girl
Wedding Ring Test:  Girl  (This was done by our friends in Germany, during one of their visits)
How I carried the baby:  (Carried High)  Girl
Food Preferences:  (Sweet foods)  Girl
Mayan Method (if both mother's age & year of conception are even or odd, it is a girl.  If one is even and one is odd, it is a boy):  (31 & 2010)  Boy

This time around, I am less certain that I am having a boy, but I am still leaning that way.  My pregnancy has been completely different from the first one.  I have had horrible morning sickness and headaches.  I never had those symptoms with Lauren.  Also, I keep having the same dream, where I am giving birth and the doctor shouts out "It's a boy".  And it is important to add that Grandpa is leaning towards boy as well.

Finally, some of the old wives tales are predicting boy.

Chinese Gender Calendar:  Some say Boy & some say Girl  (But the one I used with Lauren says Boy)
Baby's Heartbeat: (over 140 bpm)  Girl
Drug Store Urine Test:  Boy  (See pics below)
Baking Soda Test:  Girl
Wedding Ring Test:  Boy (Although this time, I did this test, instead of our German friends)
How I carried the baby:  (Carrying High)  Girl
Food Preferences:  (More salty & sour than sweet)  Boy
Mayan Method:  (34 & 2013)  Boy

Obviously, these old wives tales are not completely accurate and are meant to be used in fun.  And I will honestly be happy with either gender, but the only way to know for sure is through our ultrasound!

Tomorrow, my plan is to ask the doctor to write down the gender, without telling us, so that I can pass that information on to a friend.  I will also give her a baby doll, complete with a boy outfit and a girl outfit.  Her children have my blessing to embellish the outfits and then they will dress the baby doll in the appropriate clothes.  After picking up the wrapped baby doll, I will give it to Lauren, who will open the gift at Thanksgiving.  Our entire family will be assembled, and we can all share in this moment together.  That being said, Chad plans to be at the ultrasound tomorrow and I am not sure he is patient enough to wait another week for the news!  We will just have to see, but either way, our family will still have to wait for the reveal on Thanksgiving.

Whatever happens, it will definitely be exciting news and is an extremely important event in the Adventures of the Fisher Family!!

For those interested, an updated Blog Post will hopefully appear in a week and a half!!
