Air Show

In September, Andrews Air Force Base held it's annual (edited: we later learned this event actually takes place every other year) Air Show.

It was a last minute decision to attend, but we managed to convince Meemaw and Grandpa to drive up and meet us there.   We parked at Fed Ex stadium and took a bus over to the base.  Since Grandpa is retired Air Force, he was able to park on base.  Next time, we will drive in with them!

It was so much fun to be back on an Air Force base.  There were a lot of neat planes to walk through, there was plenty of noise from the planes in the air, and we had the best tour guide, Grandpa!!

Lauren loved every minute and declared that she wants to be a fighter pilot when she grows up.  YAY!!  Charlie did not enjoy the air show very much.  He freaked out from the loud noises and spent a lot of time screaming and grabbing at his ears.  Silly kid!!

We even found a training plane that was similar to the plane Grandpa used to fly.  He and Chad hoisted the kids up on their shoulders so that they could see inside the cockpit.  It was so cool to see Grandpa with this plane again.

We ate some lunch, walked around a little more, and headed back to the buses as the Thunderbirds (the finale) were flying through the sky.  It was such a fun, and hot, afternoon!!

Once we made it on the bus, Charlie collapsed and fell fast asleep.  We were all wiped out from the day, but boy was it fun!  We were sad when we realized we would have to wait 2 more years to do it all over again.  But Air Show 2019, we are ready for you!!!
