The Caps Win The Stanley Cup!!! What?!?!?

As usual, the Caps made the NHL playoffs this year, and we were expecting a 2nd round exit.  Imagine our surprise when they continued to win series after series.

Before we knew it, they were in the Stanley Cup Finals and Chad was a nervous wreck!!  These games were much less stressful when it wasn't our team playing.

Chad even managed to get tickets to Game 3 and 4 of the Finals.  He took me to Game 3 and Uncle Ryan to Game 4.

On the day of Game 3, Grammy and Grumpa came up to watch the kids.  Chad and I headed into DC early, to meet up with John for some pre-game drinks.  On the way in, Chad's BMW got a flat tire.  After some major stressful moments, I took the metro in, by myself, to meet John.  Chad went to the nearest dealership to see if he could get his tire fixed.  They were amazing and had him out the door, with a rental car, within 15 minutes.  He made it with no problem.

After drinks, Chad and I headed into the arena.  It was insane!!  I was so excited.  Chad looked like he wanted to throw up.  The game started off a bit rough, but quickly turned around, and the Caps killed the Golden Knights.  WOO HOO!!

After the game, we stepped outside, to catch a metro back out of the city, and could barely move.  The streets were packed with fans who watched the game from outside the arena.  I have never seen anything like it before.

The series went to Game 5, in Las Vegas.  The Caps began playing, and Lauren immediately went to bed.  She thought that it was bad luck, for the Caps, when she stayed awake to watch them.  Chad and I were not going to argue with her.  The only caveat was that we were to wake her up if it looked like the Caps were going to win.  Lauren did not want to win the celebration, and we completely agreed.

Late in the 3rd period, the Caps tied the game, and with about 6 minutes left, the scored to go ahead.  At that point, I ran into Lauren's room to wake her up.  She came into our room, and we watched the final moments together.  Chad watched from the basement.  He was a nervous wreck.  After they won, Lauren and I screamed for a bit, and hurried down to see Chad.  We watched the rest of the celebration together down there.  Lauren had so much fun spending those moments with her dad, and I know he thought it was very special as well.

On June 12th, Chad, Lauren, Charlie, and I took the metro into DC, where we met up with the Shafers for the Stanley Cup Parade.  They had scouted out a great spot along the route and we spent the morning watching all of the players and finally the Stanley Cup!  It was sooooo much fun!!  Uncle Ryan even joined us.

I think most of us are still in shock.  How did this happen?!!  If we are dreaming, please don't wake us up.  And if this is real, let's do it all again next season.  REPEAT!!!
