Lauren's Summer Recital!!

On Saturday, June 27, 2015, Lauren had her summer dance recital.  This year's recital was bittersweet, because it was pretty much the end of her Friday morning dance class group.  Most of the girls were a year older and going into school full-time this fall, and the school stopped offering the time slot for her age group.  Over the past year, Lauren and I really enjoyed going to dance class.  Her teacher was amazing, the girls all had fun together and the moms were pretty great!  There were even plenty of younger siblings around to keep Charlie entertained.  So the summer recital marked the end of our Friday morning fun.  But we were also very excited to see all of the girls perform.

A few weeks before the big recital, the girls got together to have photos taken and practice their routine.  It was a good opportunity for the girls to let loose but still practice!  Lauren did most of the routine with her tutu wrapped under her armpits!! Such a silly girl!

The day of the recital, we got Lauren all dressed (complete with a ballerina bun)!!  Then we headed off.  We arrived at George Mason High School, in Falls Church, dropped Lauren off with the rest of her class, and settled in to find a good viewing spot.  Grandpa, Mee-maw, Aunt B, Grumpa, and Grammy joined us and the show was adorable.  The girls danced a ballet routine to Beauty And The Beast.  And while Lauren did not remember all of the moves and was not the most graceful dancer, she was pretty cute and did a good job!  I am thinking she might be better suited for a more athletic dance style, like hip hop or break dancing!!!  But as long as she enjoys the dancing, we will certainly let her continue!

After the recital, we tried to take some photos (although Lauren was not interested, so we only got a few this time).  And Charlie was not as impressed with the whole recital thing.  He fell fast asleep!

Then it was time to get something to eat.  We all headed out to the Mad Fox Brewing Company for a rather large and delicious lunch.  It was our first time there, and everyone really enjoyed it!

And after lunch, Chad, Lauren, Charlie and I headed home to get packed up for our annual beach vacation!!  It was certainly a busy time, but we wouldn't want it any other way!!
