In an effort to break up the summer, I decided to pack up the kids and head down to Salisbury for nearly a week. I dropped the kids off with Grammy and Grumpa for a few days and helped Grandpa edit Aunt Sarah and Uncle Kevin's wedding video! The kids had a fun time away. They dressed up like pirates, played with Chad and Uncle Ryan's old toys, and spent a lot of time outside in the kiddie pool.
Then, I picked up the kids and Mee-maw, Grandpa, Aunt Sarah and I took them down to West Ocean City to do a little shopping, try out the go-karts and other fun rides. This was Lauren's first time on a go-cart and we were not sure how she would do. Once she got settled in and could reach the gas pedal, she did a great job. Occasionally, she would get distracted and nearly forget to make the turns, but she never ever crashed out on the course. The best part came at the end, when the attendant waved all of the drivers back in. Lauren always came in at full speed and stopped with a crash! =) It was very funny to watch!
We also went on the bumper boats. They took a little while to get used to, and Mee-maw and Lauren spent the first attempt spinning around in circles. But then, we all got the hang of it. On our second ride, Mee-maw managed to get the good boat and had a fun time spraying all of us with water. Aunt Sarah and I were soaked by the end of the ride!!
Grandpa and Aunt Sarah took Lauren on the mini roller coaster and they all had a fun time. It was the perfect size for Lauren!
But perhaps, Lauren's favorite ride, other than the go-karts, was the Frog Hopper! She loved how it went up high in the air and dropped her down (rather roughly). Her whole body would go flopping up and down and she giggled the entire time!
The next day, we headed back down to Ocean City for church on the boardwalk. Then we had breakfast at the Dough Roller and spent some time flying a kite on the beach.
Afterwards, the kids and I drove up the Shafers for a BBQ and then headed home. It was a great trip home to Salisbury, and we all really enjoyed the break.
