Grandparent's Camp & SUP!

This year, after our weekend at Hershey Park, the kids traveled to the Eastern Shore to have a week long "Grandparent" camp!  They were so excited to spend a few days with Grammy and Grumpa, followed by a few days with MeeMaw and Grandpa, and Chad and I were excited to get some work done around the house.

I re-stained the playground, fixed up some light fixtures, cleaned, organized kids clothes, and we finally finished the backsplash for the King Charles Bar!!

Meanwhile, the kids (and grandparents) were very busy.  There were trips to bounce houses, carnivals, a trampoline experience, ice cream stops, fire pit cooking, and plenty of reading & playing!!!

At the end of the week, I headed to the shore to spend the weekend at MeeMaw and Grandpa's house.  For Mother's Day, I gifted MeeMaw with a paddle boarding experience.  She wanted to do it with Aunt Sarah and I, so we had to wait for Sarah's knee to recover from surgery.  That was the prefect weekend.  The weather was beautiful, the water was calm, and there was not much boat traffic in the bay.  It hardly took any time before we were all up on the boards and we paddled away.  We spent an hour and a half out on the bay, and when it got too hot, we would sit down and dip our feet in the water.  It was so much fun.

Aunt Sarah likes to point out that I was the first to "fall".  I was trying to splash Sarah with my paddle and I slipped on the board.  BUT, I managed to regain my balance enough to stay out of the water.  Sarah, on the other hand, hit a teeny tiny wave and went right into the water.  We were less than 20 feet from the dock.  ha ha ha  Regardless of who fell in first (although it clearly was Aunt Sarah), we had a lot of laughs that afternoon.

We cleaned up a bit and headed to Fish Tails for a lunch outside.  It was nice to have a delicious lunch without any kids to chase after.  And I think MeeMaw really enjoyed her gift!

By the time I got to the shore, it was clear that the kids were wiped out.  A week full of Grandparent time will do that to you!!  But that did not stop us from having some more fun.  The kiddos rode a lot of bikes, we played a LOT of tennis in the driveway and had some delicious family dinners out on the back patio!

Everyone had so much fun, and I think after a few weeks, the grandparents have finally recovered!  ha ha ha

We were going to leave on Sunday, but I decided to stick around one more day so that we could all experience the big solar eclipse together.  More on that in the next post....
