Summered 2017

This year, we planned another Summered beach trip in Sandbridge, Virginia Beach.  We booked a house for the week of July 1 - 8 and spent the week having a blast!

We arrived Saturday afternoon, but not before stopping for our obligatory Steak and Shake stop!!  The kids love that restaurant almost as much as I do!

A few hours later, we were pulling up at the beach house.  We unpacked the car, ran out for some groceries, and settled in for the night.  Captain Rick, Beth, Aunt Denise, and Matthew joined us for an evening swim and sunset photos.

The Levys, Uncle John, Uncle Pat, E, and Abby joined us the next day.  We spent the week in the pool, playing games/dress up inside, watching movies, and hanging out.  It was the perfect way to vacation.

We were down there for the 4th of July, and despite the rainy weather, we were able to head up to the rooftop deck and take in all of the fireworks displays in the area.  They were going off everywhere and it was hard to know where to focus our attention.  So the kids just ran around and watched as much as they could.

I think it is fair to say that the kids had a blast this week, but don't worry, the grownups had a great time as well.  We enjoyed late nights in the pool/hot tub, had our annual viewing of "You Got Served", played Cards Against Humanity, and enjoyed plenty of adult beverages.  The favorites were definitely Keggy (a watermelon keg filled with a deadly punch), and orange crushes (made by Denise and her new juicer).  We also took in a midnight storm over the ocean, a sunrise swim, and ate delicious home-cooked meals.

Uncle John provided the annual t-shirts this year.  He and Denise revealed them, and they were amazing.  Great job John!!

Oh, and we did manage to get the family down to the beach this year.  We always end up staying at the pool, during these trips, because it is easier to keep track of the kids, they can actually swim, and I despise cleaning sand off the kids.  ha ha ha

But, since this was a "beach" trip, we had to get down there for at least one picture.  Chad was not pleased, Lauren wanted to keep swimming in the pool, and Charlie was scared of the waves, but you would never know it if you looked at this picture.  Thanks Denise for capturing a great moment!!

This is always one of our favorite weeks of the year.  We love getting away, spending quality time as a family, and hanging out with some of our closest friends.  This is a tradition that has continued from "before kids" and I really hope it continues as our kids get older!!

Summered 2017 was amazing!  Here is looking forward to Summered 2018!!!
