Lauren's First Tennis Camp!

This summer, Lauren expressed a big interest in tennis.  We had watched Wimbledon and tennis in the Olympics.  She really got into it all.  Since she kept asking to hit tennis balls, I decided to look into a youth tennis camp, and found one in Warrenton, VA.  We signed Lauren up, and she had a blast.

They met from 1-4 and ran through a lot of basic tennis drills.  Lauren loved the drills, but she liked the water breaks even more.  She could not believe that there was a place, next to the court, that had cups and cold water, and they were allowed to fill up their cup whenever they were thirsty!  ha ha ha

After a week of camp, her forehand improved, she liked using a double handed backhand, and we learned that she actually appears to hit the ball better when she played left-handed.

She would like to continue playing the sport, and I love the idea, but our fall schedule is already pretty full between ice hockey and swimming.  So once she becomes a good swimmer, we might switch over to tennis lessons.  Until then, we will just hit balls around the backyard and in the driveway!  And I know a certain Mee-maw and Grandpa who would love to take her out to play when they get the chance!!
