He started at the beginning of the year, January 2017, and we were excited to see what he would think. Our next door neighbor, Logan, was also enrolled in the class, so it was fun to watch the two boys give skating a try.
To say that Charlie was underwhelmed is putting it mildly. He was not a fan of sitting or crawling around on the ice, which is what they basically did the first class. The instructors wanted to teach the kids how to get up once they fall down, but Charlie wanted to move. And the class went downhill the rest of the 7 sessions.
Charlie did learn how to march, something Lauren always refused to do, and he did not mind doing it, but we felt that he wasn't benefiting much from the lessons yet.
After the lessons ended, we realized that Charlie did make some good progress. However, we are going to just take him to public skates and let him work on his skills with us. The few times we have gone to the public skate before, he marched around the ice like a champ and even took off on is own a few times. He was dying to catch up with his big sister, and she was more than happy to be his little teacher!! =)
The jury is still out on whether or not Charlie will play ice hockey, but I have a feeling he will get the bug once he gets some confidence on those ice skates!! Until then, I see a lot of public skates in our future!
