Lauren Lost Her First Tooth!

Well it finally happened!  One night, Lauren and I were driving home from the grocery store and she said "Mom, my tooth feels loose".  I thought she was exaggerating, and couldn't believe it when her tooth wiggled beneath my finger.  It certainly was loose, but we weren't sure how long it would take before it fell out.

Turns out, it took 2 weeks.  She did not mess with it much and seemed to be a little afraid of how bad it would hurt when the tooth did eventually fall out.  It didn't help that I kept joking about pulling the tooth out by tying a string around it, attaching the string to a door, and slamming the door shut.  Lauren was not pleased with that idea!  =)

And then the incredible happened.  On the night of January 27, 2017, right before bed, Lauren asked if we would pull the tooth out by slamming the closet door.  I couldn't believe it, and I also wanted to make sure that the tooth was loose enough to come out easily.  It was!

So we tied some floss around her tooth, tied the other end to the handle of the closet door, and slammed it closed.  The floss was so slippery, that it slipped right off her tooth and nothing happened.  She was so brave and wanted to try again, so I got some thread and retied everything.  We counted to three, I slammed the door, and her tooth popped right out.  She was a little shocked but then realized that it was so quick and painless.

We placed the tooth in her tooth fairy pillow, hung it on her door, and kissed her goodnight.  That night, the tooth fairy brought her a dollar and a new toothbrush.  And funny enough, I think Lauren was more excited about the toothbrush!!   Chad and I are still in shock that our little girl is old enough to loose a tooth.  Where did that time go?!?  But whether we are ready or not, the time does move quickly and we are so excited to experience many more firsts with our favorite girl!!
