Grammy, Meemaw, Lauren, and I drove up the night of July , 2016. We got to NYC around midnight, checked into our hotel room, and tried to get to sleep. The next morning, we woke up, grabbed some coffee/hot chocolate and began walking around the city. It started to drizzle, but there was something so sweet in watching Lauren stroll along the city streets with her umbrella.
We went down to Times Square, stopped for a look at Rockefeller Center, and headed off to lunch at Serendipity 3. Lauren even rode in her first ever NYC cab. She thought it was pretty cool! Ever since watching the movie Serendipity, I have always wanted to go there for some frozen hot chocolate. We got there about 20 minutes early and got in a line forming on the sidewalk. It was a very interesting little place. We had a table by a window and watched the rain start to pour down, thankful that we were dry and inside. The frozen hot chocolate came out first and did not disappoint . It was delicious!!
Then it was time to head to Radio City Music Hall for the show. I don't know who was more excited; Lauren, Meemaw, Grammy, or myself!!! We even got to meet a Rockette. We posed for a photo, and apparently Grammy was trying out for a spot onstage! Once we got into our seats, it was not long before the lights went down. And it was all worth it to watch Lauren's face when the show started. She was mesmerized and all four of us LOVED the show.
Afterwards, we walked down to Central Park and Lauren climbed all over the rocks. We found a great little playground, but ultimately, Lauren went back to climbing rocks.
After a walk back to the hotel, and a stop at St. Patricks, we got back in the car and headed home. It was a whirlwind trip, but so much fun! I am already planning our next trip back up, which will hopefully be a few days longer. There is so much to see and I can't wait to experience all of these places with the kids.
Until then, thank you New York City for a wonderful trip!!
