Spontaneous Zoo Trip

Since Grumpa and Grammy were up, for a few days, we decided to head into DC and visit the National Zoo.  It was a Monday, and many schools were still in session, so we were hoping the heat and school day would keep the crowds down.  It was very HOT, but not too crowded.

We packed a picnic and spent the day walking around the exhibits.  The kids and I love the zoo, so it is always nice to spend some time there with our family!!  Chad even managed to join up with us, for a little bit.

We saw Lauren's favorites, the lions and tigers.  We saw my favorites, the primates.  And we saw Charlie's favorite, the food court!  ha ha ha

One of the most amazing moments came at the seal exhibit.  There was one seal who was clearly playing around with the kids in the underwater viewing area.  He would swim by, stare directly at them, and then start doing flips.  He was so cute and I think Lauren and I both left wanting a seal!

We finished our trip with a ride on the carousel and some group photos.  Lauren immediately chose the Eagle, and climbed right up.  Charlie was not sure about the ride, but relaxed as soon as it started to move.

It was a wonderful day and I can't wait to go back.  Just need it to cool down a bit first!!
