Strawberry Picking

This year, I decided to take the kids out for a fun afternoon of strawberry picking.  We hit the road and drove out to Hollins Farm, which is about 35 minutes west and up in the mountains.  Every fall we head out to Hollins Farm for pumpkin picking.  I absolutely love that view, and I was anxious to get out there at a different time of the year.  It really is one of my favorite places!!

We parked, grabbed a bunch of boxes, and hit the fields.  Lauren wanted to race and see who could pick the most strawberries (she almost beat me by the way), and Charlie had no desire to participate until he discovered how the strawberries taste.  Then it was all I could do to keep them out of his mouth!!

We picked 10 pounds of strawberries and had a great time crawling around the fields.  We finished the day with a picnic in the back of the car and then went home to bake a few strawberry pies, my current obsession!!

This is a tradition I definitely plan on continuing.  Quality time with the kids, friendly competition, and delicious strawberry pies.  Doesn't get better than that!!
